About the Exam | top

To be awarded a Certificate of Competency, professionals in the field of occupational health must pass a written examination. The exam is designed to assess knowledge in areas including the history of the field, global business trends, regulatory and legal issues, staffing, outcomes measurement, quality assurance, product line development and integration, total health care management, sales and marketing, information management systems, and budgeting and financial management practices. The examination is held in conjunction with a course on occupational health program fundamentals sponsored by RYAN Associates. However, the course is not a perquisite for the examination. Certificate recipients find it helpful to use this designation to enhance their professional credibility within their own organization and externally in the marketplace.
